Today's events:

Today was the first official day of the Open European Optimist Championship 2009 which is organised by the sailing section of ŠD Piran (Sports Club Piran). The races are going to take place in the bay of Strunjan where the majority of teams are also accommodated. Storage area for dinghies and equipment as well as the race offices and media centre are all located within the complex of hotel Salinera in Strunjan.

First day of the championship was entirely dedicated to the registration and accommodation of all the teams and to the official measurements of race dinghies.

39 out of 41 notified entrant countries have registered by 20.00 hours today (all together 235 sailors). Team from Bulgaria and Russia are expected to register tomorrow.
